No goal has ever been achieved with out taking action. So, I am ever so slowly coming out of my self-imposed health sabbatical and am ready to tackle a few of the things I am passionate about in the home/apparel/artistic industries. This blog will serve to show case all I find that is compelling enough to write about and to tell stories about the people involved. I have found that my Daily Musings blog is becoming less about my health improvement and more about my passion for design. With this in mind my new endeavor is to create this blog by finding and seeking out incredible people doing incredible things, people and products you should know about and the retailers who are blowing me away.
Nothing gives me as much pleasure in life than seeing greatness whether it be in people, products, companies, or simply great design. Nothing is off limits here. My first passion in life is the creation of great brand identities for retail and people. My very first 'company' was called Appearances Total Image Company and that is where I honed my talents for dressing professional women who found it taxing and frustrating to dress themselves correctly. I created in them the new dynamic person they truly were by giving guidance with hair, makeup, fashion, and accessories. I have even designed their homes and offices to finish the job. My core belief is that we are our own brand and first appearances mean everything. So if we don't clearly define ourselves and what we stand for others will do it for us. Not good! So, appearances matter and we wish they wouldn't, but they do.
My second passion is in the apparel business. I absolutely love fabric and textiles, clothes and cool accessories, this love manifested itself into the home furnishings industry where I did branding, design trend and color products and services and then designed decorative home products for sale at retail. I still have products at Target and Dollar General among other national retailers. I have had that company for nearly 9 years, but it was through some very tough health issues that I have had to reinvent myself and reinvent what I do to leverage my passions and do what my poor body will now allow. My credo has now become not what I can no longer do, but what I can do now. This is a much less anxious position to be in and one that is not nearly as depressing either. I have learned much and hope to share that with you all.
I hope to turn you on to some of the top people in retail and design. My first guest I am hoping to introduce you to is Christopher Beach and Chic + Green Interiors based in Austin,Texas. So, as soon as I hear from Christopher you shall hear from me.
Cheers!
